The digital timer could be easier to use. I'm not sure what other product they pulled it from, but I've used much simpler designs. Two words of caution-1. wash the solor panel with water to clean the dust off. 2. mount the motor with large washers and bolts, one big racoon could pull those screws right out. I have three of them now, and wouldn't buy anything else!!!!! My oldest one is 4 years old and only replaced the rechargable battery and AA battery once. This spinner will throw corn or small protein 10-15 feet. In fact I have my spinners set for 1 sec. once a day during the off season months just to keep the 55 gallon feeder running for two months straight in Texas. The only problem with this spinner is that you will need to create your own varmit cage. Nothing on the market works or flat just doesn't fit over the long spinner. Pretty simple problem to fix with some chicken wire but a must if you want to keep it full. I've had cows beat it off, wind knock over the barrel, and racoons treat it as a gym. If it comes loose I just put it back up and its off to the races. This thing is made of metal which is a huge differance to the plastic versions on the market.
