I'm an aging Mom of two teens who has also taken up snowboarding. Falling on my 46+ year old knees was not pleasant. These kneepads protect perfectly. The outer shell is made of some sort of plastic, so you will have to balance yourself a little bit not to slip. But, when you have this under your cloths then you may have some grip from the clothing. I needed and wanted knee pads for a while 10 to 15 years.
