4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent new model TV at unbelievable price, December 11, 2010
This review is from: Toshiba 40UL605U 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz Ultra Thin LED HDTV, Black (Electronics)
Got this TV less than a week ago, at an unbelievable price (especially considering this TV is new for the second half of 2010)

First, the basics: bezel is not too thick, and the TV set is very thin. Mind you, not as thin as those 1cm top-line Samsungs or LGs but for around 700 bucks I wouldn't get nitpicky. This TV is feather weight; as indicated it weights a bit over 30 lbs with the stand. Look is very clean.

Inputs: 4x HDMI is plenty, and component video doubles as composite (so you can't hook up both at once). PC (VGA) input supports up to around 1368 x 768 resolution. Have no idea why, but this is stated by the manufacturer so be warned. I suggest using a cheap DVI to HDMI or VGA to HDMI adapter (if the computer doesn't have HDMI already) for getting 1920x1080 resolution from your computer.

Picture quality: Excellent. Contrast, black levels all very good. Reproduction of colors is also very good out of the box, though there are plenty of menu items... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars My first 1080p tv experience.., December 12, 2010

I have owned 3 different HDTVs before this one (Toshiba 56" 720p DLP, Viewsonic 37" 60Hz 720p LCD, and Panasonic 42" 720p Plasma). My living room, where this tv is used, is pretty dimly lit. We have our couch and recliner about 7-8' away from the screen, which is about perfect for this size screen. I use this TV mainly for PS3 games and blu-ray movies.

Picture: This is by far the best picture quality in my house. The screen is much brighter and crisper than the other technologies. This being my first 1080p and my first LEDtv I was sort of put off by what Andrew Jing mentions in his review here:

By Andrew Jing: **Note on 120hz: don't buy this or any other TV only for the ClearFrame, MotionFlow, etc. It makes filmed content (native 24p or 30p) look really weird. The classic example is the movie vs. daytime soap opera effect. It can make filmed content look like it was shot through a home camcorder. Obviously, if you watch live sports, etc. this is helpful,... Read more

Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Toshiba 40UL605U 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz Ultra Thin LED HDTV, Black (Electronics)
Amazon service and shipping was excellent. TV arrived and set up was easy. Very disappointed in the speaker sound. Sounded like a cheap AM/FM clock radio. I was not sure what to expect out of one of these skinny TV's but this seems to be a common problem according to one of the sales reps at my local big box electronics store. I went ahead and purchased a Sony HT-CT150 sound bar to compliment the TV and it is awesome. The TV has an excellent picture and now a sound to match. Great black & whites with some good presets for sports, movies etc... If your really technical, I am not sure the HDMI ports on this TV are the 1.4 version. You may want to check with Toshiba. This has to do with an ARC feature that I learned about when hooking up the sound bar system but it was no bid deal for me. Family members over for Thanksgiving said the picture on this TV was excellent and looked better than what ever they have.
