I felt the Altec Lansing MZX606 Ultra High Def headphones provided a decent sound quality, although not the best I've heard. As I point out in the video review, these are not "noise-cancelling" headphones, rather they are "noise-isolating" headphones. The former are designed to mask ambient noise via electronics while the latter are designed to prevent unwanted noise from getting into your ear via a tight fit in the ear canal. That is the biggest problem with these headphone. If you use them during working-out, as I do, you may find them continually slipping out of your ear because the perspiration causes them to loose their snugness in the ear canal and they slip out. This is a huge nuisance. The other issue is that since they fit so tightly in your ear, inserting them actually creates an unpleasant air pressure situation on my ear drum as I insert them. Some people may not find this as much of a problem, but I did.

The in-line control for iPods... Read more

I received the Muzx Ultra earphones a day after I wrote a review of the V-Moda Vibrato, so I can't write this review without comparing the Muzx Ultra with the V-Moda Vibrato.

I spent about an hour listening back and forth between the two trying to find some difference in sound quality. I listened to all types of music: classical, instrumental, rock, country and voice recordings. Both earphones have beyond-excellent sound quality. The only difference I found is that I don't need to turn the volume up as much on the Muzx as the V-Moda to get the same effect. However, even this is only a minor difference.

You can read my review of the V-Moda on a previous post (http://www.amazon.com/review/R34X9HHO5NOYY7/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm). The following relates to the Muzx Ultra earphones:

Pros:

Listening to music with the Muzx Ultra earphones is sheer pleasure! It's easy to imagine I'm in a concert hall listening to the music live when using these earphones;... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars not bad, not good, November 10, 2011

I've had these headphones for about month now and here are some observations. First, the ear tips that are included are not very comfortable. I tried all the ones that fit in my ear and they're not half as comfortable as the tips from my cheap skullcandy buds. The sound is pretty good, decent clarity and detail for the price you pay, though I suspect that properly fitting ear tips would help by creating a better seal in my ears. The microphone picks up some background noise when I'm outside, but not enough to cause any problems in a regular phone conversation, and the ipod controls work fine with my iphone 4s. I'm a bit disappointed with the build quality as in the short time I've had the MZX606, the plastic cover on the plug has come unglued. Some super glue has remedied the problem, but it really shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Bottom line, these headphones are decent considering the affordable price, sound quality, and the microphone and ipod controls, but I... Read more
