9 of 9 people found the following review helpful Faux cable lock, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Trimax TG3048SX Supermax Security Armor Plated 48" x 26mm Stainless Steel Locking Cable (Automotive) I selected this cable lock for my new scooter based on positive reviews.Postive comments: The lock is lightweight and easy to coil and stow. The keyhole is protected with a little sliding plastic cover to keep dirt out. Product includes a set of three keys. Negative comments: This is light duty 1/4" cable inside a hollow sleeve made to look like 1" braided steel. It's meant to fool potential thieves. It probably works most of the time except that on mine the plastic and metal mesh sleeve has already separated from the lock portion exposing the thin cable beneath. The key entry occassionally requires some jiggling to get the key all the way in. Overall: It's probably worth the money I paid ($20+) and it serves as a back-up lock for my scooter. However, if you have something valuable that someone might want to steal, DO NOT rely on the Trimax as your primary lock. 15 of 17 people found the following review helpful Maybe good, but diffinitely not good enough, This review is from: Trimax TG3072SX Supermax Security Armor Plated 72" x 26mm Stainless Steel Locking Cable (Automotive) Hello,After my first motorcycle was stolen, I thought that I was not cautioned enough. I should have used more locks. So for the second motorcycle, I bought a bunch of locks. However, about three weeks ago, it was stolen as well. It was chained to something using this cable lock, and the thieves just cut through. It was a clean cut. Also, I realized, that there is a gap b/w the outer layer of thin cables and the inner string kind of cable. Anyway, either the thieves were really good, or this cable was not good enough. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Scooter lock, This review is from: Trimax TG3072SX Supermax Security Armor Plated 72" x 26mm Stainless Steel Locking Cable (Automotive) I purchased this and thought "what a great deal". Turns out that after using for less than 2 months the lock decides to stop working while locked up 5 miles from my home and minutes before a rain storm. I plan to contact the company for a full refund. Spend more money and get a better lock. RM |
