5.0 out of 5 stars Best Mario game, June 27, 2003

I still play this game to this day. I played it as a kid, never beat it, but I played it so much with my friends and alone, and I pull it out to play every once in a while still. Mario has always been one of my favorite game series of all time. Opening up with arguably the most influencial game of all time: The Original Mario Brothers, then an average game by Mario standards of 2, Lost Levels only released in Japan, which is a great one by the way, and one of the most popular games of all time: Super Mario Brothers 3. World had a huge reputation to live up to, and it did, even exceeding expectations for a lot of people, including me.

Gameplay: 9.5/10

The levels in this game are brilliantly done by Nintendo. Fun platforming, cool enemies, and just above all else, amazing level design. Those of you that have played a Mario game know what I'm talking about. It's the heart and soul of every Mario game; the reason every Mario game is praised so highly. Every level is done very nicely... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly a great game, November 30, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Super Mario World (Video Game)
When I saw that they still sell this game, I was surprised, because I thought they didn't sell it anymore because it's so old. Anyway, I love this game! I've been playing it since I was really young (...) It is so amusing, and fun. I got into the other Mario world. There are actually two worlds, but the other one is basically the same. Just a few things look different. Like, the koopas are in a mask that looks like Mario.

(...) I beat the game, like 20 times, but I still play it. (...) Super Mario World is so fun, you'd probably get addicted to it if you bought it. And you should buy it, because, trust me, it's worth it. (...) It's so colorful, and neat. Some things in it are humorous, like the koopas disguising themselves as Mario. Also, how cute Yoshi is. You don't even have to be a certain age to play. It's easy to learn how to operate the controls. You should try it, if you ever got the chance. Because this is truly a great game!

5.0 out of 5 stars The game that started the SNES's glorious run, December 21, 2001

When the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES for short) first came out in the early 90's, it had a great lineup of launch titles to easily make it the new best seller. Super Mario World was the first, and probably the best of these launch titles for the SNES.

Just like Mario and Luigi did for the Super Mario Brothers titles on the NES, they are still collecting tons of gold coins, Bowser is still their biggest enemy, and the Princess is waiting to be rescued once again. Only this time around, their journey along the way to Bowser and the Princess will be a bit different.

There are many new experiences to be held in Super Mario World. This is the game where the Mario clan first meets and uses Yoshi, the worlds and levels are bigger than ever, and the Mario brothers even have new abilities such as new flying techniques.

Super Mario World is more like Super Mario Brothers 3 than any of the previous Mario adventures. You can play by yourself in a one-player game, or with a... Read more
