It only takes one battery and there is room to store an extra one right inside of the unit. The aerator stone works great. I wish the hose was a little longer, but it's more than enough for use on a 5-gallon bucket. Its lightweigth and brainless to use. My only poblem since day 1 until now is the on/off switch. Every single time that I'm planning to use it, I have to take a look of the wires and make sure the connections are rigth so it turns on. Once that is done, it will work the whole day and maybe for the next 5 days. After that period of time, it wont turn on again, so i have to open it and check the wires and connections until its fix. But as i said before, for the price, its ok.
