If you have never fly fished or you are freshly learn-ed in the ways, I don't recommend this rod for you. This is a good intermediate rod for someone that has learned the basics and is ready to start moving up the ladder. I'm vary pleased with this rod, it has a responsive feel that will que you in to what the line is doing behind you on the back cast. With this rod I can often tell buy the pull on the back cast what adjustments I need when I start the forward cast. It's taper is correct for a fly rod and versatile for many styles of fly fishing. It has enough back bone to hook a fish but not so much as to not be able to use the full length while casting. The tip feels a bit soft but over all it's a fast action rod that is not "springy" like the beginner rods.

I'll probly stick with this one for the rest of my days. I need a versatile rod good for many types of fish within it's limits. I give it 4.5 stars but rounded up because it can easily... Read more
