The heater I got is made in the USA. Hope they continue to make them here onshore, but gladly, mine doesn't have the toxic fumigants embedded in the paint (and other parts) that other heaters have from the shipping container fumigants they apply to the shipping container interiors when they ship from China (to prevent mold and mildew, and insects in the containers, which are sometimes enclosed for months.) Heat really activates these chemical toxins, embedded in the materials. Those toxic vapors take a while to gas-off of a new heater, and I have enough health problems and headaches without them. I gassed this unit off at 1500W outside for a few hours and used it at 1000 watts indoors without any problems, and I have severe multiple chemical sensitivity. The heating element in this portable heater is the same size as a 1000-Watt stationary baseboard. On the 1000-WATT setting (low) it gives a steady nice heat and doesn't get the chassis extremely hot on the... I do not have central heat and air in my home so I bought these heaters for my kids rooms. They are fantastic! They dont get hot, so if the kids touch them they dont burn themselves. They are easy to operate, though I unplug everytime I leave the house to go to work as the light does not go off when you turn the heater to the off position. The bedrooms are about 140sf and it takes about 30 min to warm up in the room when we get home everyday. I have had the heaters plugged in for 3 or 4 days at a time and still the casing stays warm to the touch. Running these heaters everynight in November, December and January so far, it has cost about $65.00 a month for both heaters on the electric bill. I plan on buying 3 more for the rest of the house. 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful: Fahrenheat Electric 5120 BTU Baseboard Htr Model FBE 15002, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Fahrenheat Electric 5120 BTU Baseboard Heater, Model# FBE15002 (Misc.) I purchase a heater to use in by bedroom while I sleep. So I wanted a quiet one. The unit is fanless and so generally quiet. Unfortunately it does creak a bit when it heats up. The thermostat is very quiet. . . it's hard to hear it click. Otherwise the heater works well. Despite it's title of a baseboard heater, it can be placed elsewhere; but if it's not close to a wall, it could possibly be a tripping hazard due to its low height. It could use thicker sheet metal all around, which I think is probably the case for many such heaters. I purchased the heater from Amazon/Northern Tools. The first one was damaged in shipment. Northern Tools replaced it without complaint. The second one was also damaged. . . but not nearly as much as the first one. I decided to keep it. Both were damaged in a similar fashion. The manufacturer could do a better job protecting them in shipment. |
